Kiss Me
By Leah

The crew was docked in Basra for the spring fair. There were parties everywhere and they found themselves in a street where a band was playing. There was dancing and merrymaking.

Sinbad got another ale and took a hearty swig of it. He felt mellow and relaxed and flopped onto the bench beside Bryn. "Great party," she commented.

She nodded and smiled, "Yes it is. Great band too."

Rongar was at the center of the dance, showing off his skill and finesse. A circle around him clapped. Doubar was busy downing mugs of ale and laughing. A little bit aways, a pretty maiden was trying to pull a blushing Firouz up to dance. Sinbad chuckled, "Does Firouz even know how to dance?"

"I don't know!" Bryn laughed.

He looked at her, "Do you?"

"Umm…good question!" Bryn said. The band was beginning a new song and her eyes suddenly lit up. "I know this!" she exclaimed.

Sinbad smiled and stood. He then took her hand and pulled her up with him. "Let's dance then!" he said as he swung her into the mass of dancers.

"S-Sinbad, I don’t's know if I can!" But she found she COULD, with ease!

He smiled, "See, it's not so hard."
She grinned, "This song had lyrics I remember. It's too bad the band isn't singing them."

"Oh?" he said, raising an eyebrow, "We don't you sing them then?"

"Me? But I can't sing!"

"Sure you can. Go on, try it!"

She blushed. It wasn't that she couldn't sing, it was the lyrics themselves. But he was smiling at her and his eyes were twinkling. So..hesitantly at first, she began to sing.

Kiss me out on the bearded barley,
Nightly, beside the green green grass,
Swing swing, swing the spinning step,
You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress

Ooooh kiss me!
Beneath the milky twilight,
Lead me
Out on the moonlit floor,
Lift your open hand,
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance…
So kiss me…

Suddenly she stopped, Sinbad was looking at her with tender eyes. If she was observing them, she would've noticed that their faces were inches closer then they were a minute ago. Something went through them…an impulse? Passion? A spark? Inspiration? Whatever it was, their arms tightened around eachother and their faces met without warning. Bryn felt herself wanting to melt 'neath his mouth. The song kept singing, only this time in their heads….

Kiss me down by the broken tree house,
Swing me upon its hanging tire,
Bring bring, bring your flowered hat,
We’ll take the trail marked on your father's map,

Ooooh kiss me!
Beneath the milky twilight,
Lead me
Out on the moonlit floor,
Lift your open hand,
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance…
So kiss me…

The End
